Mobile marketing is an emerging type of digital marketing. It involves marketing through text messages, emails, push up notifications on mobile apps, and social media. It is probably rising due to extensive use of mobile phones and their portability.

According to a recent TechCrunch article, consumers in the US spend five hours a day on their cell phones. This represents a 20% increase from the fourth quarter of 2015. Users show a remarkable interest in mobile apps rather than browsing on Google. In 2017, users are spending much more time with apps than watching television. 15% of that app time is spent on Netflix for entertainment, 19% of it is spent on Facebook’s mobile app, 12% on other social and messaging apps, and 11% on gaming apps, according to the TechCrunch article. Researches have shown that 45% of people do online shopping through mobile phones. A marketer should know where his targeted customers are and what they actually need to get more clicks and increase sales.
